Ducati's Future Under the Scanner as Volkswagen Reviews Its Portfolio
Volkswagen Group has begun a review of its business portfolio, and Ducati is one of the brands under discussion. The Italian motorcycle maker sits among nearly 600 units the group is currently evaluating out of its 2,000-strong portfolio.
Audi CEO Gernot Döllner confirmed this. He said the group wants disciplined, responsible portfolio management, and Ducati's future will come up as part of that process. No decision has been made to sell the brand yet.
Ducati has been under Audi since 2012. The brand now falls inside a wider restructuring plan under which Volkswagen wants to cut its holdings by roughly a third. The goal is to lower operating costs and focus more on its core car business.

If a sale is eventually approved, global buyers are likely to line up for a brand as prestigious as Ducati. For now, nothing changes for Ducati customers. The review is still ongoing.
