TVS Sets Record July Sales; What It Signals For Nepal’s Two-Wheeler Market

TVS Motor Company has reported its highest-ever monthly sales of around 6.3 lakh units in July 2026, driven by strong demand for motorcycles, scooters and a fast-rising electric scooter portfolio in India and export markets.

For Nepali buyers, this matters because TVS is one of the major two-wheeler brands sold here, with popular models like the Apache series, NTorq, Jupiter and Radeon regularly imported from India.

What TVS achieved in July

  • Total sales: about 6.3 lakh units across two-wheelers and three-wheelers.
  • Two-wheelers: over 6 lakh units, with motorcycles and scooters both growing strongly.
  • Motorcycle volumes crossed 2.6 lakh units, while scooters were close to 2.5 lakh units.
  • Electric scooters (TVS iQube, Orbiter, X) crossed 60,000 units in a single month, with year-on-year growth of more than 150% according to the Indian report.
  • Exports also hit a new high, showing strong global demand for TVS products.

TVS already sells the Apache RTR/Apache 160–200, NTorq 125, Jupiter, Raider and Radeon in Nepal through official distributors. These models are sourced largely from Indian production, so a strong factory run rate and export growth is a positive signal for availability here.

Nepal angle: supply, pricing and EV prospects

1. Better supply and festive-season readiness

With TVS plants running at record levels, Nepali dealers are likely to get more consistent stock of high-demand models ahead of major Nepali festivals. That can help:

  • Reduce waiting times on popular scooters and commuter bikes.
  • Keep prices relatively stable in the Rs 2–4 lakh band for most 110–125 cc scooters and Rs 3–5 lakh band for 150–200 cc motorcycles, barring currency and tax changes.

High export volumes also indicate that TVS is actively supporting overseas markets, which includes South Asia. For Nepal, this usually translates into smoother supply of spare parts and accessories as well.

2. Strong push on electric scooters – what it means for Nepal

TVS’s India numbers show over 60,000 electric scooters (iQube, Orbiter, X) sold in one month, suggesting the brand is heavily investing in EVs. While TVS iQube is yet to be formally launched in Nepal, this scale in India makes a Nepal introduction more plausible in the medium term, as:

  • Larger domestic volumes lower production cost, making EVs more affordable when exported.
  • TVS gains more experience with battery, range and charging performance.

If and when the iQube or similar TVS EVs come to Nepal, buyers can expect:

  • Urban range likely in the 100–120 km bracket per charge for mid-spec variants.
  • Pricing to fall roughly in the Rs 3.5–5 lakh range depending on battery size and local taxes, judging by current Indian ex-showroom prices converted to NPR.

At present there is no official confirmation from TVS’s Nepali distributor about an EV launch timeline. However, the July sales numbers underline that for TVS, electric scooters are becoming mainstream, and Nepal — with growing interest in EV two-wheelers and government incentives on electric imports — is a logical next frontier.

3. Competitive pressure on other brands in Nepal

As TVS strengthens its EV and scooter portfolio in India, it will likely push more aggressively on technology and features across its range. For Nepali buyers, that could mean:

  • More feature-rich scooters and bikes (connectivity, riding modes, better brakes) at existing price points.
  • Pressure on rivals like Honda, Hero and Chinese-origin brands to respond with improved models or sharper pricing.

Key takeaway for Nepali riders

  • TVS’s record July 2026 sales and 60k+ monthly EV scooter volumes signal strong manufacturing momentum and a serious long-term bet on electric mobility.
  • For Nepal, this should translate over time into better supply, more tech-loaded petrol two-wheelers and a clearer path for TVS electric scooters to eventually enter the market, even though a formal Nepal EV launch has not yet been announced.
