New TVS Callisto 110 debuts in Indonesia
TVS Motor Company has officially launched the all‑new Callisto 110 scooter in Jakarta, Indonesia. This new model is positioned as a practical everyday commuter with more power, higher fuel efficiency and extra storage capacity, making it relevant for buyers in markets like Nepal where TVS scooters are popular.
Engine and efficiency
According to TVS Motor’s announcement from Jakarta, the new Callisto uses a 113.3cc engine, replacing the earlier 109.7cc unit. The power output is about 8 hp, with torque up to around 9.8 Nm when its assist function is active.
A key addition is an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) paired with a stop‑go system. This setup can shut the engine off automatically in traffic stops and restart it silently, with TVS claiming fuel efficiency gains of around 10% in city use. This type of technology is becoming common in commuter scooters and would be attractive for Nepali riders facing congested urban traffic.
Storage and everyday convenience
One of the headline features is a 33‑litre underseat storage compartment, which TVS says can hold two half‑face helmets. For riders who carry bags, groceries or office items daily, this size of storage is significantly larger than many existing 110cc scooters.
Other practical features highlighted in the Indonesian launch include:
- Front fuel filler to refuel without lifting the seat
- USB charging port for phones
- A long, comfortable seat aimed at family use
- Adjustable rear suspension to better handle different loads
Depending on variant, the scooter also offers Bluetooth Smart Connect with turn‑by‑turn navigation, which could be useful for delivery riders and frequent city commuters.
Safety equipment
For safety, TVS has equipped the Callisto 110 with an Emergency Brake Signal, which flashes the rear indicators under hard braking to warn following vehicles. The scooter also features auto‑off turn indicators, reducing the chance of confusion in traffic.
These features, while launched for Indonesia, indicate the level of safety technology TVS is ready to offer on its small scooters, and could be important if similar models are brought to Nepal.
Price and colours
The scooter is marketed in Indonesia at IDR 20.9 million on‑the‑road Jakarta, with a limited launch offer of IDR 19.9 million for the first 150 buyers, according to the official announcement and local reports. Converted at recent exchange rates, this is roughly Rs 1.0–1.1 lakh for the special launch price and about Rs 1.1–1.2 lakh for the regular price, though the exact amount will vary with currency movement and any future Nepal‑specific taxes.
The all‑new Callisto 110 is offered in four colours: Mint Green, Moon Silver, Solid White and Peach Perfect.
What it means for Nepal
TVS already sells several commuter scooters in Nepal, and the Callisto 110 shows the brand’s latest direction in small automatic scooters: more storage, start‑stop technology and added safety features. While TVS has not yet announced a Nepal launch, Nepali buyers can expect upcoming TVS scooters for our market to draw heavily from this specification and feature package.
