Rain, landslides, road collapse and erosion have blocked traffic on several roads in different parts of Nepal.
By 5:45 am, movement was affected on the Mid-Hill Highway in Tehrathum, Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchok, Mechi Highway in Ilam, Trishuli–Mailung–Syafrubesi road in Rasuwa, and the Bheri Corridor in Rukum West.
The Khurkot–Nepalthok–Katunjebesi section of the BP Highway has been closed to all vehicles from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am because of possible flood risk. Vehicles are allowed to run from 4:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Kanti Lokpath in Makwanpur also has a night-time restriction. All vehicles are barred from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am during the monsoon.
Mechi Highway at Rajduwali in Ilam Municipality-9 is fully blocked after rain turned the road muddy. An alternate route is available.
Parts of Araniko Highway in Bhote Koshi Rural Municipality-4 Jirokilo, Ward No. 2 Kodari and Liping are also fully blocked after landslides and road settlement. The highway is blocked again at Dumre in Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality-9.
Trishuli–Mailung–Syafrubesi road in Rasuwa is fully blocked at Khalte in Uttar Gaya Rural Municipality-5 after erosion. The Jajarkot–Dolpa section of the Bheri Corridor at Rije Garden Khola in Aathbiskot Municipality-6 has been closed by a landslide.
The Mid-Hill Highway at Pingwakhola near Kades, Laligurans Municipality-9 in Tehrathum, is also blocked by a landslide.
Police have urged people to check road conditions with the concerned authorities before travelling during the monsoon.
