Prithvi Highway section reopens for essential vehicles

Traffic has resumed for essential vehicles on the Galchhi–Malekhu section of the Prithvi Highway after crews cleared mud and debris that had blocked the road.

According to the Infrastructure Development Ministry, vehicles that were stranded on the highway have now been safely sent towards their destinations.

The highway was reopened only after workers removed the accumulated mud, cleaned the obstructed portions and made the road motorable again.

With the road back in operation, passengers and drivers who had been stuck mid-route due to flooding have received much-needed relief.

Authorities have still urged road users to drive with extra caution on sections affected by recent floods and landslides, as surfaces may remain slippery and further disruption is possible.

For buyers planning intercity trips by car, pickup or bus, this update means that the key Kathmandu–western corridor is functioning again, but journeys on the Prithvi Highway should be planned with sufficient time and care in case of changing monsoon conditions.
