Michelin launches Primacy 5 car tyres in India

Michelin has introduced the Primacy 5 passenger car tyre range in India, with local production for the first time in this market.

The range is offered in 16 to 22-inch sizes and starts at about Rs 15,600 ex-showroom. Michelin positions the Primacy 5 for SUVs and sedans, and says it is suitable for both electric vehicles and internal-combustion cars.

According to the company, the tyre uses its EverGrip and EverTread technologies and is tuned for Indian road conditions. Michelin claims the Primacy 5 can stop 4 metres shorter on dry roads and 8 metres shorter on wet roads than competing tyres. The brand also cites a comfort improvement of up to 9%.

For EV use, Michelin says the Primacy 5 can improve energy efficiency by 6.5% versus the Primacy 4 ST, which may help extend driving range.
