Next CX-30 Coming in FY2030, So the Current Model Has a Long Road Ahead

Mazda has confirmed the next-generation CX-30 is planned for fiscal year 2030, a window running until March 2031. The current CX-30 first came out in 2019. That puts its total run at around 12 years before a full redesign — a long life by SUV standards.

Why the CX-30 Still Matters for Mazda

The CX-30 sits between the smaller CX-3 and the larger CX-5 in Mazda's SUV lineup. It still pulls serious weight globally. In 2025 it was Mazda's second best-selling model worldwide, with 208,869 units sold, trailing only the CX-5.

Cost-Cutting Will Shape the Next Generation

Mazda CEO Masahiro Moro has said the company will focus heavily on cost reduction when developing the next CX-30. The plan is to use methods already tried on the latest CX-5. That CX-5 cut body steel weight by about 10 percent while growing 115 mm in length compared to its predecessor. Expect similar lightweight, cost-saving tricks on the future CX-30.

Platform and Powertrain Details

Platform details haven't been announced yet. The next CX-30 is expected to keep its front-wheel-drive layout. It will likely share architecture with the next-generation Mazda3.

On powertrains, the upcoming CX-30 is expected to get Mazda's Skyactiv-Z gasoline engine along with an in-house self-charging hybrid system. This hybrid setup debuts first in the CX-5 in 2027. The CX-30 will get it later in its life cycle.

What This Means for Nepali Buyers

Mazda is stretching the CX-30's lifecycle while dealing with higher raw material costs, wider economic uncertainty, and increased US tariffs on vehicles built in Japan. For owners in Nepal, this means the familiar CX-30 shape and cabin will likely stick around for several more years. Major changes aren't expected until around 2030–2031. Nepal pricing and launch plans for the next-generation CX-30 have not been confirmed.
