Mahindra has filed a design patent for the Vision T, a new SUV concept that appears to sit on the brand’s next-generation product roadmap. The production version is expected around 2027, after the Vision S, which suggests Vision T will follow rather than lead Mahindra’s next wave of SUVs.
What the Vision T looks like
The concept is shaped like a compact, rugged off-roader rather than a soft-roader. Its styling cues include square headlamps, a slatted grille, a clamshell bonnet, flared wheel arches, a flat roofline, and a rear-mounted spare wheel. The design also shows skid plates, chunky tyres and a tall, upright stance, all of which point to an SUV aimed at buyers who want a tougher look and some genuine off-road intent.
Inside, Mahindra is said to be focusing on practicality and modern tech. The concept features a large vertical touchscreen, a digital driver display, a new steering wheel, and a simpler dashboard layout. The cabin design follows the same square and rectangular theme seen outside.
Powertrain and platform
Mahindra has not revealed final powertrain details yet. The Vision T is based on the NU_IQ platform, which is designed for petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric drivetrains. The concept is also expected to support 2WD and AWD versions, which would make it more flexible than many compact SUVs on sale today.
What this could mean for Nepal
For Nepali buyers, the key point is Mahindra’s strong presence in India, because Nepal usually receives many India-built SUVs after their launch there. If Vision T enters production in India in 2027 or later, it could eventually reach Nepal through official or parallel import channels.
That would place it in a segment where Nepal already has interest in compact SUVs with a tough image, especially for buyers wanting an alternative to city-focused crossovers. However, if Mahindra positions Vision T with hybrid or AWD hardware, the price could be significantly higher than mainstream compact SUVs.
Based on the India market direction and Nepal’s import structure, a Nepal launch would likely be at the premium end of the compact SUV segment, especially if the final model includes advanced tech, off-road hardware or electrified powertrains. For now, though, Mahindra has only confirmed the patent filing; launch timing, specifications and Nepal pricing remain unannounced.
