Leapmotor Targets 10 Lakh Global EV Sales in 2026: What It Means for Nepal

Chinese electric maker Leapmotor is holding on to its global target of delivering 10 lakh vehicles in 2026, even though it has reached only about one‑third of that figure by mid‑year, according to Chinese media reports. The company is counting on its new B‑series sedans and SUVs, updated with fast‑charging and advanced driver‑assistance tech, to lift sales in the second half.

Strong global push, exports already near 30%

Leapmotor says international markets are expected to account for around 20–35% of its total sales this year, and the export share reportedly reached close to 30% in the first half. That points to a growth strategy that leans heavily on markets outside China, including South Asia and Europe.

For Nepali buyers, this matters because Leapmotor already has a formal presence here. Shangrila Motors is the official importer, and multiple models are on sale, including the T03, C10 and B10, with the B03 SUV announced for a future Nepal launch. Local media reports also note that Leapmotor ranks among the leading Chinese new‑energy startups by global sales, backed by a stake from Stellantis, the group behind brands like Peugeot, Citroën and Jeep.

Nepal angle: more models, better support likely

Leapmotor’s rising global volumes and export focus are likely to have direct effects on the Nepali market:

  • Wider model range: The new B‑series in China includes models like the B01 sedan and a refreshed B10 SUV with long‑range variants using 800‑volt fast‑charging and LiDAR‑based driver assistance. Exact Nepal launch plans for the B01 are not announced. The presence of the B10 and upcoming B03 suggests more B‑series models could follow.
  • Competitive pricing pressure: In Nepal, the Leapmotor B10 EV is currently priced in the Rs 55–60 lakh range as per the distributor’s recent information, while the C10 is listed around Rs 72 lakh. If Leapmotor can scale production towards its 10 lakh‑unit goal, it may gain cost advantages that help keep prices competitive against other Chinese and Indian EVs.

  • Improved after‑sales and parts availability: Higher global volumes usually mean stronger parts pipelines and software support. For Nepali owners of the T03, B10 and C10, Leapmotor’s export‑driven strategy could translate into more consistent spare‑parts availability and updates over time.

Impact on competition in Nepal

Nepal’s EV segment is now crowded, with BYD, MG, Tata and several other Chinese brands competing in similar price bands. Leapmotor’s ambitious sales targets and technology‑rich models, with long‑range batteries, 800‑volt charging and LiDAR options, put it firmly in this mix.

For Nepali buyers, that translates into more choice in the Rs 50–75 lakh EV bracket, with possible downward pressure on prices as Chinese brands scale up and fight for share globally. The 10 lakh‑unit target is demanding, but Leapmotor’s current pace and export share suggest Nepal will stay on its radar as part of its wider international push.
