Overview: Where the Kia Seltos Fits in Nepal

The **Kia Seltos** is a 5-seater compact SUV positioned above smaller crossovers and below large 7-seaters, aimed at buyers who want a family-friendly vehicle with modern features and an upmarket feel. Across 19 variants, the Seltos in Nepal spans from simple manual petrol trims to fully-loaded GT-Line and X-Line models with advanced safety and comfort tech.

All Nepal-market Seltos variants use internal combustion engines (petrol or diesel); none are electric or hybrid and there is no traction battery or electric driving range. Authorized distribution is handled by Continental Trading Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. (Kia Nepal), with imports routed through the official Kia Nepal network.

New-Gen and Hybrid Seltos Insights

Kia has unveiled the new-generation Seltos for the Chinese market, signaling potential future updates for Nepal. The new model features a larger body, redesigned interior, and advanced connected technology. It measures 4,460 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, with a 2,690 mm wheelbase, making it larger than the current Nepal-spec Seltos.

The new Seltos includes a 27-inch ultra-wide display and a separate 10-inch interactive screen for the driver, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295P chipset. It supports split-screen operation, smartphone connectivity, and features like a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and an eight-speaker Bose sound system.

In addition to these updates, Kia is readying a hybrid powertrain for the Seltos, expected to launch in Europe and the United States later this year, with a potential introduction in India by 2027. The hybrid variant has been spied undergoing high-altitude testing in the European Alps. It will feature an advanced 1.6-litre GDI Hybrid (HEV) engine paired with a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, designed for enhanced fuel efficiency.

Buyers will have the option to choose from 2WD and e-AWD versions of the Seltos hybrid. The e-AWD variant will offer improved handling and enhanced traction, ensuring optimal torque distribution across all four wheels. The hybrid will also include features like Smart Regenerative Braking 3.0 and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), typically seen in electric vehicles.

Upcoming Launches and Auto Shows

The facelifted Kia Seltos is expected to be a highlight at the upcoming NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, which begins on August 11. This event, along with the NADA Auto Show 2026, marks one of the busiest launch periods for Nepal's automotive market, with over a dozen new passenger vehicles arriving. The Seltos will be showcased alongside other notable models like the Hyundai IONIQ 9, MG Majestor, and Tata Punch facelift.
