Honda and Mitsubishi Motors have signed a memorandum of understanding to co-develop a new pickup truck. The vehicle will be based on the Mitsubishi Triton and sold under the Honda brand.
This project marks the first time the two Japanese automakers have collaborated to supply vehicles for each other's lineups. The partnership aims to help Honda enter the pickup segment in Southeast Asia, where it currently has no offering. For Mitsubishi, the deal is expected to increase production volumes at its factory in Thailand.
The new Honda pickup is scheduled to go on sale in Southeast Asian markets in 2028.

While the truck will share the Triton's ladder-frame platform and powertrain, Honda plans to give the model its own distinct styling. The Mitsubishi Triton is currently available in single-cab, mega-cab, and double-cab configurations, featuring a 2.4-litre diesel engine. Specific details regarding the Honda version's final specifications and pricing have not been announced.
