Hero MotoCorp to Invest Further in Ather Energy
Hero MotoCorp is putting more money into **Ather Energy. The company has approved US$184 million (about Rs 1,758 crore)** to buy additional shares in the Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler maker.
Hero MotoCorp held 29.88% of Ather Energy on a fully diluted basis as of August 25, 2026. This fresh all-cash purchase, from an existing Ather shareholder, will take that stake to around 32.8%. Hero remains Ather's largest shareholder.
The deal was cleared by Hero MotoCorp's Committee of Directors on August 27, 2026. The company has set September 3, 2026 as the indicative completion date, giving it about a week to close the transaction.
This isn't Hero's first big bet on Ather. An earlier investment of around US$100 million had already gone into the company. Hero has been building its EV presence through this partnership for some time now.
What This Means for Nepal
There is no Nepal-specific price or launch update tied to this investment. Whether it affects Ather or Hero's EV lineup in the Nepali market is not yet clear.
