Toyota has introduced the 2026 Hilux in the Indian market with a comprehensive update to its exterior, interior and technology package. The Hilux is already a popular lifestyle pickup in Nepal, so this new version will be closely watched by Nepali buyers.

Variants and expected pricing for Nepal

In India, the 2026 Hilux is offered in three automatic variants: GX 4×2 AT, GX 4×4 AT and VX 4×4 AT.

According to the Indian launch announcement, prices start from around Rs 32 lakh equivalent and go up to about Rs 37 lakh equivalent (ex‑showroom India). After adding import duties and local costs, this could translate to well over Rs 1 crore in Nepal once officially launched, similar to the current Hilux price range. Exact Nepali pricing will only be clear after Toyota’s local distributor announces it.

Design and body

The updated Hilux continues with Toyota’s IMV body‑on‑frame platform and is sold as a double‑cab only in India.

Key exterior changes include:

  • Bolder front end with a new honeycomb grille
  • Slim LED headlamps linked by a black trim piece
  • Redesigned front bumper and flared wheel arches
  • New tailgate and C‑shaped LED tail lamps
  • Cargo bed rated for around 500 kg payload, suitable for light commercial use and lifestyle activities

These changes aim to make the Hilux look more modern and aggressive compared to the current model sold in Nepal.

Interior and features

Inside, the 2026 Hilux gets a completely revised dashboard layout:

  • 12.3‑inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • 12.3‑inch digital instrument cluster
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless phone charger
  • Dual‑zone automatic climate control
  • Ventilated front seats
  • 360‑degree camera and selectable terrain modes
  • Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with safety aids such as lane and collision warning (feature mix may vary by variant when it comes to Nepal)

For Nepali buyers, the combination of high ground clearance, a tough ladder frame and these modern comfort and safety features will be a key attraction.

Engine and drivetrain

Power continues to come from Toyota’s familiar 2.8‑litre, four‑cylinder turbo‑diesel engine. According to the Indian launch information, it produces about 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque, paired with a six‑speed automatic transmission.

  • GX 4×2 AT: rear‑wheel drive, automatic
  • GX 4×4 AT / VX 4×4 AT: four‑wheel drive, automatic

This engine‑gearbox combination is already known to Nepali Hilux owners for its strong torque and highway performance.

Colours

The 2026 Hilux in India is available in six colours: Sulphur Metallic, Platinum Pearl White Metallic, Attitude Black, Ash, Emotional Red and Super White. The same palette, or most of it, is likely to be offered in Nepal.

What it means for Nepali buyers

The Hilux is one of Nepal’s most popular lifestyle pickups, used both for personal adventure and business. Based on the Indian launch, the refreshed 2026 model adds more technology and a sharper design while keeping the trusted 2.8‑litre diesel and 4×4 hardware.

For now, a Nepal launch timeline and price are not officially confirmed. However, given the strong demand and the model’s importance in Toyota’s regional lineup, Nepal AutoMart expects the 2026 Hilux to reach Nepal in the near future, likely at a premium over the current Hilux due to the added features.
