Police seize untaxed Indian e-scooters in Birgunj
Parsa District Police have seized 17 Indian electric scooters from different parts of Birgunj Metropolitan City. The scooters were brought into Nepal by evading customs duty.
Local residents had complained that untaxed Indian electric scooters were being widely used in the area. Police then launched a special search operation targeting such vehicles.
The total market value of the recovered scooters is about Rs 13.6 lakh, according to the district police office.
All seized scooters are now in police custody. Authorities are starting the process to hand them over to the Birgunj Customs Office for legal and tax action.
Buyers should take note. Using a vehicle imported without proper customs clearance can lead to seizure and legal penalties, even if the scooter has been in regular use for some time.
