Yamaha has taken the wraps off its EC-06 electric scooter in India, giving the model a clearer commercial identity after the initial reveal. The scooter is priced at Rs 1.67 lakh (India ex-showroom), which places it in the upper end of the electric-scooter segment and makes it a model to watch for Nepali buyers who often compare India-market prices before a Nepal launch.
What Yamaha is offering
The EC-06 uses a 4kWh fixed battery pack and a claimed IDC range of 169km. Yamaha says the scooter produces 6.7kW peak power, 26Nm of torque, and can reach a top speed of 79kph. The battery is fixed rather than removable, and charging from empty to full takes about 8 to 10 hours depending on the source and charging setup.
The scooter is also equipped with disc brakes at both ends, combined braking system, LED lighting, and Bluetooth connectivity. Test reports from Autocar India say its acceleration is adequate for city use, with a 0-80kph time of 15.50 seconds and quick enough roll-on performance for overtaking in urban traffic.

Why this matters for Nepal
Yamaha already has a strong brand presence in Nepal through its petrol scooters and motorcycles, so any new electric model from the company naturally draws attention. However, there is no confirmed Nepal launch yet for the EC-06, so local buyers should treat this as an India-market development rather than an announced Nepal product.
If Yamaha decides to bring the EC-06 to Nepal, its India price suggests it would likely sit in the premium EV scooter bracket here as well, especially once customs, taxes, dealer margins, and transport costs are added. That would put pressure on rival electric scooters already available in Nepal and could push Yamaha to position it as a long-range urban commuter rather than a budget EV.
For Nepali customers, the key questions will be final Nepal price, charging compatibility, spare parts support, and whether Yamaha offers the scooter through its existing dealer network. Until then, the EC-06 is best seen as an indicator of how Yamaha may shape its future EV strategy in South Asia.
