Sygic, one of the more established offline navigation apps, has added a dedicated motorbike mode in its latest version 26.4 for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The company says the new setting is aimed at making long rides safer and more convenient for riders whose motorcycles support smartphone mirroring.

What changes for riders

Until now, when riders connected Sygic to a bike’s display via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, they mostly saw the same interface used for cars. With motorbike mode, the app switches to a layout and functions built around two‑wheel use, with clear on‑screen information that is easier to read while wearing a helmet and gloves.

The motorbike mode centres on features useful for touring and daily riding:

  • Routing that can favour twisty and scenic roads instead of only the fastest route
  • Display of elevation and terrain profile, helping riders understand upcoming climbs and descents
  • Weather forecast for the destination area, so riders can plan breaks and rain gear
  • Information about nearby fuel stations, useful on longer highway or hill routes
  • Visual warnings for potentially risky sections, such as accident‑prone or hazardous areas (where data is available)

Which bikes can use it

The new mode works on motorcycles that come with factory‑fitted Apple CarPlay or Android Auto support, as well as on older bikes where riders have installed compatible aftermarket displays, according to Sygic. The announcement mentions models such as:

  • Honda Gold Wing (touring bike)
  • Honda Africa Twin (adventure bike)
  • Selected Harley‑Davidson touring models

These models or similar touring motorcycles are sold in neighbouring markets and, in limited numbers, also reach Nepal through imports. For Nepali riders, the feature will mainly benefit owners who already use CarPlay/Android Auto‑enabled consoles or aftermarket smart dashboards.

Voice guidance and safety focus

Sygic states that in motorbike mode, voice instructions can be played through the motorcycle’s speakers or a connected smart helmet. This helps riders hear turn‑by‑turn directions clearly even at higher speeds where wind noise is strong.

By combining terrain data, live or forecast weather information and risk warnings, the company claims the new mode can make long‑distance rides more organised and safer. For Nepali motorcycle users who frequently ride on highways, hills and changing weather conditions, such features may be especially useful as more bikes adopt connected displays in the coming years.

As of now, this is a software update to the existing Sygic app. No separate price has been announced for the motorbike mode, and riders can get it on compatible devices after updating to the latest version.
