Mahindra has implemented a fresh price hike on its ladder-frame SUVs in India, with Thar Roxx and **Scorpio Classic becoming costlier by up to Rs 78,000 (India ex-showroom)** according to the latest July 2026 revision. For Nepal, which sources most Mahindra SUVs from India, such increases typically feed into higher import costs and, over time, higher showroom prices.

Thar Roxx: big hike on India’s popular 5-door off-roader

Mahindra’s new Thar Roxx 5-door lifestyle SUV has received the steepest increment. Across the range, prices in India have reportedly gone up between Rs 12,500 and Rs 78,000 depending on variant, engine and drivetrain.

  • Base MX1 Petrol MT 2WD: hike of Rs 12,500
  • Star Edition AT 2WD (petrol): hike of Rs 59,000
  • MX5 MT 2WD (diesel): hike of Rs 22,500
  • Top AX7 L 2WD & AX7 L 2WD Mocha (diesel): hike of up to Rs 78,000

Converted to Nepali pricing terms, that top-end hike alone is roughly Rs 1 lakh–1.25 lakh difference once import duties, excise and dealer margins are layered on. If Thar Roxx is officially introduced in Nepal in the coming months, buyers should expect premium positioning above the current Thar 3-door, with less room for aggressive launch pricing because the base cost in India has already climbed.

Scorpio Classic: steady workhorse, now dearer

The Scorpio Classic, which continues alongside the newer Scorpio N in India, has seen more moderate but still meaningful increases. There are four variants on sale there, all manual diesel:

  • S MT 7S: price up by Rs 37,000
  • S MT 9S: price up by Rs 39,000
  • S11 MT 7S & S11 MT 7S CC: price up by Rs 40,000

Revised Indian prices now range from Rs 13.37 lakh to Rs 17.4 lakh (ex-showroom, India). In Nepali terms this band translates to roughly Rs 45–60 lakh once taxes and logistics are counted, if the same Classic spec is imported. While Nepal currently sells older Scorpio generations and has shifted focus to Scorpio N, any move to bring in Scorpio Classic as a fleet- or rural-focused option would likely come with higher entry pricing than earlier expectations due to this Indian hike.

What Nepali buyers should watch

  • Higher base prices in India generally push Nepali sticker prices up, especially for popular ladder-frame SUVs where demand is strong and discounts are limited.
  • If Thar Roxx is launched here, expect it to sit significantly above the current Thar in price, given both its larger size and the latest hike.
  • For Scorpio, dealers in Nepal may increasingly favour Scorpio N over the Classic, as the cost advantage of the simpler Classic narrows.

For now, Mahindra’s price revision is India-specific, but given Nepal’s dependence on Indian sourcing, prospective buyers of Mahindra SUVs should factor in the likelihood of further price firming rather than expecting deep cuts or heavy discounts.
