Chinese EV brand Leapmotor has revealed the interior of its upcoming A05s compact electric car in China, positioned as a sedan/hatchback counterpart to the A10 SUV. The A10 is marketed internationally as the Leapmotor B03, which is confirmed to enter the Nepali market via NAIMA Mobility, making the A05s relevant as a likely future sibling model.

What is the Leapmotor A05s?

According to Chinese filings and the official unveiling, the A05s is a five‑door compact EV with a footprint similar to popular small sedans and hatchbacks seen in Nepal.

  • Dimensions: 4,200 mm (length), 1,800 mm (width), 1,560 mm (height), 2,605 mm wheelbase
  • Motors: choice of 70 kW (about 94 hp) or 90 kW (about 121 hp) front‑mounted motors
  • Batteries: 39.8 kWh or 53 kWh LFP packs
  • Claimed range (China CLTC): 405 km and 510 km respectively

Inside, the car has a minimalist cabin with a two‑spoke multi‑function steering wheel, a large floating centre touchscreen, and a full digital instrument cluster. There is a wireless phone charging pad, dual cup holders, ambient lighting and a rear centre armrest. The equipment list points to a focus on comfort and tech even in an entry‑level EV.

One of the headline features is hardware for advanced driver assistance: selected variants are designed to support a roof‑mounted LiDAR sensor and high‑level driving assistance such as urban Navigate on Autopilot‑style functions and memory parking.

Price expectations and Nepal angle

Chinese industry reports suggest the A05s could start around 50,000–60,000 yuan, roughly Rs 10–12 lakh before any taxes. For Nepal, once customs duty, excise and VAT are added, a model at this ex‑factory price band generally ends up in the above Rs 25–30 lakh bracket, depending on equipment and battery size.

Leapmotor’s B03 (A10) SUV, built on a similar front‑wheel‑drive EV platform and already slated for Nepal, gives a hint of the brand’s positioning here: relatively affordable EVs with strong range and modern ADAS. If the B03 gains traction, local distributors are likely to consider the A05/A05s as a more compact, lower‑priced option in the future.

For Nepali buyers, the bigger story is what the A05s represents:

  • Entry‑level EVs with 400–500 km claimed range and LFP batteries, which are generally durable and better suited to frequent charging cycles.
  • Advanced ADAS and LiDAR coming down from premium EVs to budget‑oriented models, a package that could become a selling point in city usage if regulations and road conditions allow.
  • A potential new competitor to small EVs from BYD, Tata, MG and emerging Chinese brands in the sub‑Rs 30–40 lakh city‑EV space.

There is no official launch plan for the A05s in Nepal yet, but with Leapmotor actively expanding overseas and the B03 already headed here, the A05/A05s family is a model line that Nepali EV shoppers should watch closely over the next few years.
