Study under way
A government-linked team has inspected the long-shuttered Gorakhkali Rubber Industry in Gorkha to check whether it can be brought back into operation. Gorkha constituency-2 lawmaker Kavindra Burlakoti led the visit. Representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry, and Ministry of Law accompanied him.
What happens next
Burlakoti said the team is now looking at the legal and financial possibilities of restarting the factory. An economic proposal will be prepared soon, he said.
Why it matters for buyers
The factory once made tyres for trucks, jeeps, vans and cars. It had the capacity to produce about 88,000 tyres a year. It has been fully closed since 2071 Chaitra 23, and its buildings and machinery have sat unused since then.
