BMW is accelerating production of its new-generation iX3 electric SUV as worldwide demand climbs close to 100,000 orders. According to BMW, the model has hit key manufacturing milestones unusually quickly, signalling strong buyer interest in long-range premium EVs.
Fast ramp-up at new Hungary plant
BMW recently completed the 50,000th iX3 at its new factory in Debrecen, Hungary, just nine months after series production began, according to the company announcement. This makes it the fastest production ramp-up at a new BMW plant so far, with a second shift added in February to keep up with orders.
The Debrecen facility is a key hub for BMW’s future electric line-up, and the iX3 is the first model to roll out from this site.
Built on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform

Charging performance
The new iX3 supports high‑power DC fast charging. According to BMW, the SUV can accept up to 400 kW on suitable chargers and add up to 373 km of range in around 10 minutes under ideal conditions. This level of charging performance is designed to make longer highway trips more practical, provided ultra‑fast chargers are available.
Market response and outlook
In Europe, BMW reports that the iX3 has made a strong entry. After deliveries began in March, the SUV became the best‑selling electric SUV in its segment in April, ahead of rivals such as the Audi Q4 e‑tron, according to BMW’s own sales data.
