13 rows · data as of 2026-08-05 · free to reuse with attribution
13 brand/segment rows, each estimating what share of a comparable new vehicle's price a brand's ~3-year-old cars or bikes keep on Nepal's used market today, benchmarked against the car or bike segment average. A brand only appears once we have at least 6 of its own used listings in the 1–6 year age window feeding a segment curve fitted from 20+ market-wide points — thinner brands are left out rather than given an unsupported number. For each segment (car, bike), we fit a market-wide retention curve from real used-listing ask prices divided by the vehicle's comparable new price, weighted toward more recently posted listings (45-day half-life) so post-shock prices take over quickly after a duty change. Each brand's own listings in the 1–6 year age window are then normalised to age 3 along that curve and reduced to a single figure with the same recency weighting. 'vs market' is the brand's figure minus the segment average, in percentage points. A 0.95 negotiation haircut is applied throughout (asking prices settle slightly below ask).
LimitationsThis is a used-LISTING-price model, not a completed-sale-price model — Nepal has no public sale-price registry, so every figure reflects what sellers ask, not always what buyers pay. A brand's sample size (right-most column) is the number of its own listings behind the number; single digits mean a wider margin of error than double or triple digits. Excludes vehicles under 1 year old (too little depreciation to read) and over 6 years (a different resale market). Ex-showroom/on-road cost differences and government tax changes are not separated out.
