Bajaj Auto has outlined an aggressive product and capacity plan that will matter for Nepali two-wheeler buyers over the next few years.

10 new Bajaj two-wheelers coming soon

According to the company’s latest announcement, Bajaj will introduce 10 new two-wheelers within the next six weeks. These will include:

  • Two new Pulsar motorcycles in the 125cc and 150cc segments
  • Fresh variants of the Chetak electric scooter
  • Other updated models across its commuter and premium range

Exact model names, features and prices have not yet been disclosed. For Nepali buyers, new Pulsar 125cc and 150cc options are important because these capacities are among the highest-selling segments in Nepal’s bike market, especially for daily commuting and light touring.

Bigger production capacity to support exports

Bajaj has also confirmed plans to expand its overall manufacturing capacity. According to the announcement, the company will:

  • Add capacity at existing plants (brownfield expansion)
  • Set up a new manufacturing facility (greenfield project)

With these changes, Bajaj expects to lift its annual production capacity from 7.2 million units to over 9 million units. The extra capacity is meant to support higher volumes of:

  • Electric two- and three-wheelers
  • Premium motorcycles
  • Selected ICE three-wheelers

This expansion is significant for Nepal because Bajaj is one of the most popular imported bike brands here. Higher production and a broader portfolio typically help distributors maintain supply and introduce new variants more quickly.

First Bajaj electric motorcycle confirmed

Bajaj has officially stated that its first electric motorcycle is under development and is targeted to debut in FY2028, according to the company’s Chief Financial Officer. The plan is to:

  • Launch the model first in export markets
  • Introduce it in India afterwards

This suggests Nepali buyers could see the bike through Bajaj’s export channels relatively early, depending on regional strategy and homologation. However, no detailed specifications, range figures or price estimates have been shared yet, so all timelines and positioning remain indicative.

Chetak electric scooter output to be increased

The company also plans to raise monthly production of the Chetak electric scooter from 50,000 to 60,000 units, citing stronger-than-expected demand. For Nepal, where interest in electric scooters is gradually rising but supply and charging infrastructure are still developing, higher Chetak output could mean:

  • Better availability of Chetak EV variants for import
  • More choice for buyers looking to shift from petrol scooters to EVs

Strong recent financial performance

For the quarter ending June 30, 2026, Bajaj Auto reported a 46% increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 3,226 crore, with sales volumes up 29% and exports up 54%, according to the company’s results announcement.

While these are India-based financial figures, they indicate that Bajaj is in a strong position to keep investing in new products, EV technology and export markets like Nepal. For local buyers, the key takeaways are:

  • More Pulsar choices in 125cc and 150cc in the near term
  • Expanded Chetak electric scooter lineup with improved supply
  • A future Bajaj electric motorcycle around FY2028, which could eventually add an affordable mainstream option to Nepal’s growing EV bike segment.
