Floating = quarterly base rate + premium, compiled from banks' published monthly interest-rate sheets (verified July 2026). Rates reset regularly and vary with your profile — treat this as a shortlist, then get current quotes from at least three banks.
Nepal Rastra Bank caps private auto-loan financing at 60% of the vehicle price — for both petrol/diesel and electric vehicles — so you pay at least 40% down. (The cap was 50% for ICE and 80% for EVs until NRB's February 2025 policy review equalized both at 60%, reconfirmed in Monetary Policy 2083/84.)
Published floating auto-loan rates at major commercial banks ran roughly 5.5–9.5% per year as of Asar 2083 (June/July 2026) (base rate + premium; fixed-rate options run higher, several banks price EV loans cheaper). Rates reset with each bank's base rate — always confirm the current sheet with the bank.
Yes — banks and finance companies offer two-wheeler loans, and many dealers arrange financing at the showroom. Typical tenure is 1–3 years for bikes and scooters, with EMI paid monthly. You still pay the NRB-mandated down payment share yourself.
For a Rs 5 lakh bike with 50% financed over 36 months at an indicative 7.5% p.a., the EMI is about रु 7,777 per month. Use the calculator above to match your exact price, down payment and tenure.
The NRB financing cap is now the same 60% for both, but several banks price EV loans visibly cheaper (e.g. dedicated EV rates 1–1.5 percentage points below standard auto loans), and EVs pay far lower annual road tax and running costs — so the monthly cost-of-ownership gap is often smaller than sticker prices suggest.
The EMI is only part of the cost — add first-year road tax and compulsory third-party insurance for the real on-road figure, then browse current car prices or bike prices to see what fits the budget.
