TVS Motor Company has brought its new TVS Arbiter electric scooter to the Nepali market, targeting urban commuters who want to move to electric without losing everyday practicality.

According to the announcement, the Arbiter is being sold in Nepal through Jagdamba Motors as the official distributor, with an introductory price of Rs 2.81 lakh (Rs 2,81,900) ex-showroom.

Battery, range and riding modes

TVS has given the Arbiter a 3.1 kWh battery, and the company claims a range of up to 158 km on a single charge under ideal conditions. At this price, that puts it among the longer-range e-scooters in the segment according to the launch information.

For everyday riding, there are selectable Eco and Power modes, along with regenerative braking to recover some energy while slowing down. The scooter also comes with cruise control, hill-hold assist for easier starts on slopes, and a parking assist function to help manoeuvre at low speeds.

Comfort and practicality for Nepali roads

To improve stability and confidence on broken city roads, TVS has fitted the Arbiter with a 14-inch front wheel, larger than the typical front wheels seen on most scooters in this class.

Key practical highlights include: - 34-litre under-seat storage, designed to fit two helmets - 845 mm long seat to give more room to the rider and pillion - 290 mm wide footboard for comfortable legroom or carrying small loads - 169 mm ground clearance, aimed at handling speed bumps and rough patches commonly found on Nepali roads

These figures, according to TVS, are meant to make the Arbiter better suited to everyday conditions in Kathmandu and other cities.

Connectivity and safety features

The Arbiter uses a colour TFT digital instrument cluster that can show incoming calls, SMS, turn-by-turn navigation and personal alerts when connected to a smartphone.

For safety and security, TVS has packed in several connected features: - Geo-fencing and time-fencing to define allowed areas and time windows for use - Live location tracking of the scooter - Theft and towing alerts sent if the scooter is moved unexpectedly - Alerts in case of an accident or if the scooter tips over

Through a companion mobile app, owners can check battery charge status, view odometer readings, and receive over-the-air software updates for the scooter’s systems.

Positioning in Nepal’s growing EV market

Speaking at the unveiling, TVS Motor Company’s international business head described the launch of the Arbiter in Nepal as a step in expanding TVS’s EV ecosystem in markets that are adopting sustainable mobility, with Nepal now a key focus according to the company’s remarks.

Jagdamba Motors’ parent group representatives said they expect the Arbiter to strengthen TVS’s presence in Nepal’s electric two-wheeler segment, building on the response to the brand’s earlier EV offerings. For Nepali buyers, the Arbiter arrives as a feature-rich city e-scooter with a long claimed range, practical storage and advanced connected safety, at a mid-range EV price point.
